PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
1) PAYMENT – Payment for lessons is done monthly and is due at the first lesson of each month. If payment is not received by the 2nd lesson of the month, a $10.00 late fee will apply. Payment can be made by e-transfer or cash.
2) PLEASE BE ON TIME – Lesson time lost due to a late arrival cannot be made up, irrespective of the reason for the late arrival. Moreover, if you are more than 15 minutes late to your lesson, and no arrangements have been made regarding your arrival time, it is considered a "no show." Kindly make sure you have all your materials for the lesson.
3) EXTENDED BREAKS - Lessons are on a first come, first serve basis. If students must take more than four (4) lessons off, the time slot will be filled. You may return but will not be guaranteed the same lesson time. If the schedule is full, the student must wait until an opening is offered.
4) LESSON CANCELLATION – A 24-hour notice is appreciated when cancelling a lesson via email, text, or phone. Failure to do so, or no-shows without a courtesy follow-up call, will result in no make-up lessons or refunds for the missed class.
5) ILLNESS – Please do not come for lessons if you are sick. A 4-hour notice minimum is required to cancel classes by email, text, or phone. Failure to do so, or no-shows without a courtesy follow-up call, will result in no make-up lessons or refunds for the missed class.
6) NO SHOWS – If you fail to attend your scheduled class or lesson without giving us notice, referred to as a "no show," the lesson will be charged as an ordinary lesson, and no rescheduling or make-up of the class or lesson subject to the no show will be offered.
7) MAKE-UP LESSONS – We are willing to work with you to schedule a make-up lesson, especially regarding preparing for a competition, festival, or exam. If we cannot coordinate a mutual lesson time, a fee adjustment for the following month will be made.
8) TERMINATION OF LESSONS – A 2-week email/text notice is required for lesson termination. Tuition will be prorated and refunded. Make-up lessons will not be offered after the termination date. The teacher also has a right to discontinue studies due to a lack of compliance with studio policy or frequent late/absences.
9) CELLPHONES/TABLETS – Please set your phones to vibrate before your lesson. If the student is in the studio waiting for their lesson, please use headphones or set your tablet to silent.
10) CoVID-19 PROTOCOL – Wearing masks for both student and teacher is at the comfort level of the student/parent.
NOTE: Policies are subject to change.
1) PRACTICE – The ideal practice schedule is listed below:
Beginners, RCM Introductory to Grade 3, pop, or jazz: minimum three times a week for 30 minutes
RCM Grade 4 to Grade 8: 4-5 times a week, between 45-60 minutes
Grade 9 to ARCT: 1.5-2 hours daily
We are flexible and understand that your schedule can get busy too! Try your best; the lesson can become a guided practice session when necessary.
2) STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES - Ensure assignments have been completed and/or practiced. However, we understand things can happen. Please let us know at the beginning of the lesson if you could not complete/practice your assignment so we can adjust the lesson accordingly.
3) PARENT ENCOURAGEMENT - We encourage our parents to help support the student! Parents are always welcome to sit in during the lesson.
4) EXAMS, COMPETITIONS, AUDITIONS, FESTIVALS - Students are strongly advised not to enter exams, competitions, auditions, or music festivals without notifying the teacher first. This is to ensure proper preparation and readiness to perform at your best!
