Kathleen's love for music emerged in early childhood, when her natural ability to play melodies by ear became apparent. At the age of three, she began piano lessons with her father, which laid the groundwork for formal training at the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in 1981 under Peteris Zarins. Her musical journey flourished through studies with Monika Kasprzak (1986–1992), Lusiana Lukman (1993–1999), and Lynda Metelsky (2008–2009). Kathleen’s passion for music also extends to singing, having trained with Gabriela Rodgers (2018–2023) and Diane Gorun (2024–present).

After completing her Grade 9 RCM certification, Kathleen began teaching at Walter’s Music Studios (1994–1997) before founding her private studio in 1996. Her teaching approach combines creativity, technical expertise, and humor, creating educational and enjoyable lessons. Her achievements include earning the Elementary Pedagogy designation with First Class Honours in 2009 and the Elementary Specialist Certificate in 2015. Kathleen is currently pursuing her ARCT Diploma in Piano Pedagogy while continuing her vocal studies through RCM certification.

Beyond her teaching career, Kathleen channels her creativity and energy into a wide range of personal interests. She has performed at public events and enjoys reading, photography, dance, kayaking, and skiing.
