Jessica's musical journey exemplifies her adaptability and determination. Beginning formal training at age five, she quickly realized that the traditional approach wasn’t the best fit for her. After completing her Grade 1 RCM exam in 1988, she embraced a self-directed path, teaching herself classical piano. Her commitment has brought her to the advanced preparation for her RCM Grade 9 exam.
To deepen her knowledge, Jessica returned to formal education from 2008 to 2010, studying music theory at the RCM under the mentorship of Peteris Zarins and Janet Lopinski. She also expanded her musical expertise by completing a one-year guitar course at RCM from 2008 to 2009.
Jessica joined the studio in 2008 as a theory specialist, later taking a hiatus to pursue a career transition. In addition to her teaching background, she is a Registered Nurse and earned her MBA at Carleton University in August 2024. She also dedicates her time as a volunteer accompanist for a local choir, further showcasing her love for music and community involvement.
Beyond music, Jessica finds joy in nurturing plants, playing video games (she’s a Tetris Master), exploring crafts, and tackling DIY projects. Her passions also include taekwondo, which she recently resumed after a 34-year hiatus. In February 2025, she achieved her Green Stripe and, shortly after, earned silver at her first tournament.
Jessica is excited to welcome new students soon, with her schedule opening up. Stay tuned for more updates!
